We are LIKE MINDS LIKE MINE
Tuning in to  Our Voice, Our Journey

COULD BE ME, COULD BE YOU- Yes 1 in 5 people will experience mental illness in any given year, so let’s get educated, remove the myths so there’s no fear!

 


Hosted by people with experience of mental illness, Our voice, Our journey radio show is a voice for the mental health sector, involving a range of Tangata Motuhake (person living in Self Determination), Tangata Whaiora (person seeking wellness), Peer Support Workers and Representatives from the Mental Health Sector and Wellbeing Services.


Each week we will have 
- Leadership of Individuals and Groups with experience of mental illness to deliver the programme
 - Share information to assist organisations to adopt and implement policies and practices that prevent discrimination against people with experience of mental illness
 - Change Discriminatory attitudes and behaviours using Mass Media
 - Strengthen specific approaches for Maori to address the needs and aspirations along with populations groups including Pacific, Rangatahi/Youth, Parents/Caregivers, Gay/Lesbian/Transgender, New Migrants and Refugees, People with co-existing disorders such as Drug, Alcohol and Gambling
-  Address Internalisation of Stigma and Discrimination
-  Creating and Maintaining Relationships with supporters and allied partners to support the Like Minds programme
 - Strengthen the capacity and integrity of the public heath Like Minds workforce


We will share information on mental illness, What we as Like Minds offer, support in our communities, guest speakers, play funky creative music, and sharing of personal stories and testimonies of people with experience of mental illness and looking at their road to recovery.
Every Monday at 2.00pm tune your radio into 106.7fm AM1206 or the Live Stream via communityradio.co.nz and blast it up with host with the most Aaron Woolley from Te Korowai Hauora O Hauraki.  We hope that by providing this show we will help raise community awareness and change attitudes and behaviours of those who discriminate and stigmatise towards mental illness and create greater understanding of mental illness.

Like Minds, Like Mine is a public education programme aimed at reducing the stigma and discrimination faced by people with experience of mental illness.
